Port Washington Mill Pond Restoration

The Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District in conjunction with The Town of North Hempstead hosted a Wetland Restoration Event on Wednesday May 13th and Thursday May 14th 2015. We planted over 3500 Spartina Alterniflora and Spartina Patens plants into the 6000 sq ft pond. Approximately 10 volunteers assisted us, and we were visited by North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio. Thanks to all the volunteers and partners that helped make this event possible.

The district continued to assist the Town of North Hempstead in its efforts to restore Mill Pond throughout 2018.
